The Best Place To Smoke Inside DIA

With smoking legislation cracking down coast to coast, it can be harder and harder to find a spot in an airport to light up. Luckily for us Coloradoans, our airport is one of the few remaining places that hasn’t abandoned the smoker.

The best place to smoke inside Denver International Airport is actually the only place left where it’s allowed. DIA is the largest airport in the country (and 2nd in the world) by total area, but they’ve recently closed 3 of the 4 indoor smoking lounges.

The last smoking area is the appropriately-named Smokin’ Bear Lounge, and it’s located in concourse C. The bad news is that there’s a $5 minimum on food or drink to use the lounge, but the good news is that it’s actually cigar friendly. Most (if not all) the remaining airport smoking lounges are strictly for cigarettes. Spend the $5 pairing your stick to a good bourbon and start your trip off right.

If you’re the responsible type and get to the airport with an hour to spare, a cigar can be a great way to relax before your flight. It’s also a great way to kill time during an unexpected layover. In our next blog, we’ll give you some tips for traveling with your cigars.

The city of Denver has future plans to close down even this last refuge for traveling cigar smokers, so if you enjoy a good smoke in the airport, patronize the Smokin’ Bear to show it’s a viable business. And if you feel especially strong about it, write the mayor’s office on their website and let them know how much you value having one last option for enjoying a cigar in DIA.
